STUDY OF MATTHEW
During this liturgical year, many of our Gospel lessons will be from the book of Matthew. There’s a reason why this is the first book of the New Testament, it was written to prove that Jesus Christ is the long-awaited, promised Messiah, the King of all the earth. Matthew emphasizes the Old Testament prophecies that Jesus fulfills, from His birth through His ministry and right up to His death and resurrection. There is more material in this book of the Bible than we will ever be able to cover on Sunday mornings. With this in mind, we have developed tools to help you to explore deeper into the book of Matthew.
We realize, however, that there are many who would like to learn more about Matthew but are unable to participate in either of these groups. With that in mind, we have made available a series of videos viewable at your convenience using this link Matthew Weekly Video and Readings. We do hope many of you will take advantage of one of the learning opportunities available.
Thank you, Pastor Ward

The Children’s Church program will resume on Sunday, September 10, using Godly Play each week and with some enhancements. The time is being expanded as well. Pastor Ward will call for the children, ages 3 and up, to go to Children’s Church after the sharing of the peace, and they will return after the sermon and before communion. The leader will bring the children back to the sanctuary. This additional time gives the leaders of Godly Play time to fully complete the lesson and allow for discussion among the children. There will be 2 adults in attendance each Sunday and a youth helper.
We will be offering “Godly Play” each Sunday through December except December 10th which will be the Children’s Christmas Program, December 17, and December 24th. The classes will be held in the Godly Play Room which is on the educational wing hallway, first room on the left from the gym.
Anyone who has an interest in helping with this program is welcome to do so. Just let Deloris Bainbridge (youthandmilestones@adventlu.org) know so you can be worked into the rotation of helpers. The class itself is lead by persons trained in Godly Play and you are welcome to be a part of that also if you wish.
