– Proverbs 22:6
Here at Advent Lutheran, we believe that a relationship with God starts with the smallest of babies. Offering love to our children, we let them know of God’s love from the time they join us. In addition to offering biblical education, we believe that children should be integrated into the life of the church in meaningful ways. From music to worship, as children get older, they are offered more ways to contribute to the congregational life of Advent Lutheran. We want our children to be seen, heard and affirmed as beloved children of God.
In this spirit, while we have age appropriate classes, we also offer intergenerational opportunities throughout the year. This gives everyone a chance to interact together and learn as a faith family. Some examples include fall kickoff celebration and Advent wreath creation and cookie walk.
Classes for kids from kindergarten through high school are offered on Sunday mornings from 9:00-9:45 during the school year. For those who have not yet entered school, care is offered both during the class time as well as during both worship services. Preschool – Fourth Graders will participate in Godly Play in the main building. Godly Play is a program designed to spark the imagination of children as they enter into Biblical stories in creative ways. Grades 5 – high school will go to the Wubben-Smith House for Sunday morning programs.
Colorful Worship is offered for children ages 4-9 during each of the worship services during the sermon. This is an opportunity for children to respond to the Children’s Sermon outside the sanctuary with their own creative perspective.
