Love God, Serve Neighbor

Witness Ministry at Advent

We believe that each of us is ‘called’ to be an evangelist by Jesus’ ‘Great Commission’:

19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

We are called to take the Good News of Jesus Christ, out into the world! Our community of faith (believers) at Advent is charged to share God’s gift, our Savior Jesus, with those outside of our church.

Witness Ministry Mission Statement:

  • To proclaim the gospel to the Charlotte community by communicating who we are, where we are located, and how to reach us.
  • To invite the unchurched (friends, neighbors, family members); to reach out to all who are newcomers to the community.
  • To welcome the stranger and make Advent an inviting place for visitors.
  • To educate and equip each member of the congregation in his/her role as a witness.
  • To ensure that new disciples stay 'connected' and encourage each one to become involved in at least one ministry during their first year at Advent.

Advent's Witness Board Manages:

  • Greeters, Publicity, Signs/banners, Welcome Table, Lunch with the Pastor, New Member Education/follow-up, Sponsors, Name badges, Website

As active members of Advent Lutheran Church, we have a story worth sharing! Telling others about our faith journeys is our witness to those who have doubts or have not yet made a commitment to follow Jesus.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NIV)
